Where are you located?
We are located at:

2300 Laurens Rd in Greenville SC on the Motor Mile.

What are your hours of operation?
Our hours are Monday through Friday, 9-5 and 9-2 on Saturday.  However, our hours are customizable to meet your schedule. Give us a call and let us know when you would like to come by and we will be there to meet you.

I need a 250, right?
Well that depends on if you are going to be traveling on the highway. The main difference between the 150 and the 250 is the top speed. The 150 has a top speed of around 60mph while the 250 maxes out around 75mph. Most people find that the 150s meet their needs for in town scooting. If you are not going to be traveling on the highway then the 150 will probably meet your needs too. Best of all, buying a 150 saves enough money so that you can buy a second one for a riding partner!

What is the difference in your scooters versus the other brands I have found?
There are many differences in the brands that we carry versus what you will find from most other scooter dealers, both locally and on the internet.
Q. What is the biggest perceived difference between the Japanese or Italian scooters and the Chinese scooters?
A. Quality and Reliability.

Our  manufacturers want to break the stereotype that Chinese scooters are inferior to other country's scooters. They have invested the time and money into developing true engineering, research, development, and quality control departments. This coupled with the fact that Znen produces the majority of their parts in house produces a scooter of extremely high quality and reliability. The Scooter Shop upgrades every scooter that we get with top of the line headlights, batteries, seat covers and chrome accents to name a few things. You will not find these extras on other brands.

Many other Chinese manufactures still fall into the stereotypical cheap parts and cheap labor category.  Most do not produce much, if any, of the parts themselves.  One major brand of Chinese scooter produces no parts themselves and in fact buys all their parts from the cheapest sources available in China. They then put it together and slap on their name. This is not what we sell.

Here is an example of how customers feel about the Roketa brand's quality, sales and service.  View their BBB report.

Here is the BBB report on Lance Powersports, a reseller of the Znen brand.

What type of battery is in the scooter?
The famous Yuasa batteries are standard on all of our scooters.

Battery manual

Who makes the engine?
Znen produces all of their own engines in their factory.  They produce over 300,000 engines annually.
The 50cc and 150cc engine is the famous Honda GY6 motor.  Most of our parts are interchangeable with genuine Honda parts.
The 250cc engine is the CF Moto V3 motor.  This is a very reliable water cooled engine.

What is the chrome package?
The chrome package consist of a chrome drive belt cover and a chrome flywheel cover.  The package also includes aluminum floor panels.  Other chrome pieces vary by model.

Do I get a trunk with my scooter?
All of our scooters that will accept a trunk do have a color matched trunck available to purchase as an option.

Do the scooters include alarms?
We have found that these alarms are not very trustworthy and tend to cause a lot of unnecessary problems when installed.

What is a Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI)?
A PDI is a Pre Delivery Inspection.  We perform this step as soon as we uncrate a new scooter.  We also perform this inspection to ensure that nothing has been missed or worked its way loose in shipment.

As part of the PDI we change all fluids, check all electrical connections, check all bolts for proper torque, test the brakes and all cables.  Many other functions are also performed during this inspection.  All of these steps are to guarantee you and us that we are providing you with the highest quality and most trouble free scooter that we can offer.

Here are a few links to PDI inspection lists and videos.

How do I break in my scooter?
There are conflicting ideas as to what is the best way to break in your scooter's engine.  Some people claim that it is best to break your engine in quickly while others say that it is best to take it slow and easy.  We follow the quick break in procedures for our personal scooters.  A summary of the procedure can be found here.

What does the warranty cover?
Your warranty covers everything, except for normal wear and tear.  Labor is covered on work performed by our service center.  We can not provide repayment for any labor performed by another shop.  Please see our warranty page for full details.

In the case of warranty we will provide you will the necessary replacements parts for you to complete the job.  However, the scooter must be brought in at 200 and 600 miles to be serviced by our mechanics in order to maintain your warranty eligibility.  These service are included with all of our scooter purchases.

Do I need a license to drive my scooter?
The engine size determines whether or not a license is required.  Any scooter under 50cc does not require a license to drive.  The DMV considers these scooters mopeds.  If your scooter's engine is larger than 50cc then it is considered to be a motorcycle. When your scooter is a motorcycle you will need a motorcycle license to operate it on the roads.

Do I have to insure my scooter?
The same guidelines are true for insurance that are true for licensing.  If the scooter is under 50cc then insurance is not required.  If the scooter is larger than 50c then liability insurance is required.  This insurance usually runs about $75 annually.

How do I register my scooter?
To register a 50cc or under scooter you can go to the DMV and apply for a title.  This is optional for you.  It is a good idea but not required.  No other special requirements other than proof of ownership are necessary.

For scooters larger than 50cc you will have to pay your local property and sales taxes.  If your purchase was made locally then The Scooter Shop will collect the sales tax for you.  Once your property taxes have been paid then you will take your receipts along with your provided MCO, Manufacture's Certificate of Origin, and Bill of Sale to the DMV.  They will provide you with your new title and motorcycle tag.
